Hebrews 11:1 says that “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen.” The world we live in says that seeing is believing. But when we examine Hebrews 11:1 we see that the opposite is true, that believing is seeing. In God’s economy we must believe and act on our faith. The word hoped in the New Testament literally means something promised. For those of us that have place our faith in Jesus Christ and that He has paid the price for our sin, we have the promise of eternal life and a hope in heaven with Him. Our faith is the evidence that will one day be sight. Jesus suffered a horrible death, crucified as a criminal and did so for those who believe in Him. Through His death and resurrection we have been set free from the curse of sin. God says in John 3:16 that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son those whosoever believed in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Faith in Christ will result in the assurance of things promised!
