Can’t I just stay at home and worship God my own way? That is something that a Christian can do for sure but when the church gathers together, that is where a Christian should be. It’s the best of both worlds because you can do both. Does the Bible address this issue? Sure it does. In Hebrews 10:23-25 it reads, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful, and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near.” When the church meets, its for corporate worship, praise, to be built up in the faith, to exercise love and encouragement, as an oasis from the outside distractions. It is where someone can minister to us, or we can minister to another, to hear an encouraging word or give one. It is a place where we can enjoy the very presence of the Lord so as the Word of God says, that the Lord inhabits the praises of His people. Of the 168 hours in a week, to spend a few hours in the presence of the Lord with His people is a refreshing respite from the hectic world we live in. So, yes, I encourage you Christian, go to church!
